Ecology Field Program 2011
Pondhawks
Ages: 8 - 10 Years
Dates: Monday, July 11- Thursday, July 14
Time: 9AM - 3PM
Location: various North Fork locations
Description: Each day, the group visits a different
habitat and gets up close with the plants and animals
that live there. Children become active nature detectives,
using dip nets, tanks, bug boxes, shovels and field guides
to learn about life in the pond, beach, salt marsh, and
woods. This program aspires to spark childrens interest
in the outdoors and plant the seeds for a lifetime of
stewardship and love of nature.
Terrapins
Ages: 11-12 Years
Dates: Monday, August 22 - Thursday, August 25
Time: 9AM - 3PM
Location: various North Fork locations
Description: If kayaking in the marsh and off-road
biking through the woods sound like fun, then this week
of adventure and discovery is for you! Designed for boys
and girls who like active outdoor activity and who are
curious about nature.
Cost: All GEE sessions are $375 per child; $325
for GEE members and returning participants; ask about
sibling discounts

Hallockvillage Build-A-Farm
Children's
Summer Series 2011
Ages: 6 - 12 Years
Dates: Six weeks, July 5 - August 12
Time: 8:30AM - 3:30PM
Location: Hallockville Museum Farm campus, 6038
Sound Avenue, Riverhead
Description: Taking a step back into history, children
will have the opportunity to explore traditional farm
life as North Fork farmers did centuries ago. Campers
will construct an old-style village from the ground up,
putting together a miniature hamlet that will become the
backdrop for the rest of their summer series experience.
Whether attending one week or all six, your child will
participate in a complete and well-rounded educational
unit designed to immerse them into life on an old-time
farm. They'll get out and play in the fresh air, sunshine
and rich soil of Eastern
Long Island and learn about farming the way North Forkers
have done it through the centuries. Activities include
wood working, weaving and knitting, caring for farm animals,
farming and gardening, playing traditional games, music
and dance, costume making, and a variety of other hands-on
projects. Taking a step back into history, children will
have the opportunity to explore traditional farm life
as North Fork farmers did centuries ago.
Cost: $295 for Hallockville members; $325 Non-Members.
Save $100 with a 3 week package or get a free week of
camp with a 6 week package. (To qualify for multi-week
discounts, registration must be completed and paid by
July 11th.)

Peconic Dunes 4-H
Sleep Away / Day Camp
Peconic Dunes is a co-ed summer program. The unique setting
includes a 30-acre freshwater pond, one mile of beachfront
on the Long Island Sound, hardwood forests, and rolling
sand dunes.
Day Camp
Ages: 7 - 12 Years
Dates: Ten weeks, June 26 - Sept 2
Time: 8:45AM - 5PM
Location: Peconic Dunes 4-H Camp, Southold
Description: The day camp program includes sports,
outdoor skills, expressive arts, canoeing & kayaking,
archery, and more. Fee includes meals.

Sleep Away Camp

Description: The sleep away program includes sports,
outdoor skills, expressive arts, canoeing & kayaking,
archery, cookouts, and campfires. Sailing is an available
add-on; weekend extenders available. Fee includes accommodations,
meals.
Cost: $569/week; $25 off when registering before
April 15; sailing add $200/week; extender weekends add
$150/week.
Overnight E.C.O.
Ages: 12 - 15 Years
Description: Same as overnight basic, except with
focus on ecology and stewardship.
