New Boating Camps Announced
The Sea Tow Boating Safety
and Education Foundation has announced three new hands-on
Safe Boating Camps for children and adults to be held
in Flanders and in Mattituck during July and August 2008:
Adult Powerboat Camp, Youth Powerboat Camp, and Buccaneer
Camp.
Partnering with Strongs Marine in Mattituck, the Adult
Powerboat Camp is a safe boating camp designed for ages
16 and up. Two sessions are scheduled for weekday evenings
from July 21 25 and July 28- Aug 1st (5:30pm-9:00pm).

motor boat and will include the New York State Safe Boating
Course and Exam.
The Youth Boating Camp will be hosted by East End Rowing
in Flanders. Designed to teach kids ages 10-15 how to
handle small powerboats and rowing boats safely, this
camp also takes the New York State Safe Boating Course
and moves it outside and onto the boatwhere kids
can learn about safe boating through actual operating
experience, games and activities. Two camp sessions are
scheduled: July 21-July 25 and July 28-Aug 1, both from
9am-12 noon.
2008 Buccaneer Camp will also be hosted by East End Rowing
in Flanders. Designed to get younger kids outside and
on the water, the camp teaches boating safety through
the eyes of buccaneers, privateers, and famous explorers.
Activities will include navigation, map making/reading,
knot tying, weather signs, man overboard drills, communicating
with flags, boat building and more. Two camp sessions
are scheduled: July 7-11 and Aug 11-15, both from 9am
