Easy Strawberry Shortcake

This is an easy dessert that everyone in the family can get involved with (or not).

2 quarts of strawberries, hulled, washed, and diced
1-2 tablespoons of sugar or honey
1 pound cake cut in 1-inch slices
1 quart of heavy whipping cream
1 teaspoon vanilla
another 1-2 tablespoons of sugar

1. Place the prepared strawberries in a medium mixing bowl. Add sugar or honey and mix.
Let stand for at least an hour.

2. Place sliced pound cake on a serving plate.

3. Pour the heavy whipping cream in a large mixing bowl and add vanilla and sugar.
Beat on medium high with mixer until you see peaks in the cream.

4. Assemble strawberry shortcake. Place a slice of cake on a dish, top with strawberries and
whipped cream--or let everyone assemble their own!
