WINTER
There are only two
seasons -- winter and Baseball. ~ Bill Veeck
Laughter is the
sun that drives winter from the human face. ~ Victor
Hugo
If we had no winter,
the spring would not be so pleasant: if we did not sometimes
taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome.

Shelley
In seed time learn,
in harvest teach, in winter enjoy. ~ William Blake
I prefer winter
and fall, when you feel the bone structure of the landscape
- the loneliness of it, the dead feeling of winter. Something
waits beneath it, the whole story doesn't show.
~ Andrew Wyeth
One kind word can
warm three winter months. ~ Japanese Proverb
Spring passes and
one remembers one's innocence. Summer passes and one remembers
one's exuberance. Autumn passes and one remembers one's
reverence. Winter passes and one remembers one's perseverance.
~ Yoko Ono
FEAR
We need to teach
the next generation of children from Day One that they
are responsible for their lives. Mankind's greatest gift,
also its greatest curse, is that we have free choice.
We can make our choices built from love or from fear.
~ Elisabeth Kubler-Ross

ourselves between two thieves - regret for the past and
fear of the future. ~ Fulton Oursler
Always do what you
are afraid to do. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
He who is not everyday
conquering some fear has not learned the secret of life.
~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
Loneliness is about
the scariest thing out there. ~ Joss Whedon
Our deepest fear
is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that
we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our
darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who
am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God.
Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There's nothing
enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't
feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as
children do. We are born to make manifest the glory of
God that is within us. It's not just in some of us, it's
in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously
give other people permission to do the same. As we are
liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically
liberates others. ~ Marianne Williamson
FATHERS
"I've
always followed my father's advice: he told me, first
to always
keep my word and, second, to never insult anybody unintentionally.
If I insult you, you can be goddamn sure I intend to.
And, third, he told
me not to go around looking for trouble."
~ John Wayne
"It is a wise father
that knows his own child."
~ William Shakespeare
"All we have of freedom
-- all we use or know --
This our fathers bought for us, long and long ago."
~ Kipling
"Most American children
suffer too much mother and too little father."
~ Gloria Steinem
"The most important
thing a father can do for his children is to love their
mother."
~ Author Unknown
PARENTING
"The lack of emotional
security of our American young people is due,
I believe, to their isolation from the larger family unit.
No two people
- no mere father and mother - as I have often said, are
enough to provide emotional security for a child. He needs
to feel himself one in a world of kinfolk,
persons of variety in age and temperament, and yet allied
to himself by an indissoluble bond which he cannot break
if he could,
for nature has welded him into it before he was born."
~ Pearl S. Buck
"Parent: the material
or source from which something is derived."
~as defined on VisionLearning
MARRIAGE
"Some people ask
the secret of our long marriage. We take time
to go to a restaurant two times a week. A little candlelight,
dinner, soft music and dancing. She goes Tuesdays, I go
Fridays."
~ Henny Youngman
"A good wife always
forgives her husband when she's wrong."
~ Milton Berle
"The great question
I have not been able to answer, is:
"What does a woman want?'"
~ Sigmund Freud
SCHOOL
OF LIFE
"It strkes me as
singularly inappropriate for a school to use its students
for
fund-raising. It reminded me of the first time I saw a
gypsy mother send her baby
out to beg. " ~ William Hamilton
"One thing about
the school of experience is that it will repeat
the lesson if you flunk the first time."
~ Author Unknown
"We are students
of words; we are
shut up in schools, and colleges, and recitation rooms,
for ten or fifteen
years, and come out at last with a bag of wind, a memory
of words,
and do not know a thing ." ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
"Disobedience, in
the eyes of anyone who has read history, is man's original
virtue. It is through disobedience and rebellion that
progress has
been made." ~ Oscar Wilde
FOOD
"The most remarkable
thing about my mother is that for thirty years
she served the family nothing but leftovers. The original
meal has
never been found." ~ Calvin Trillin
"Reminds me of my
safari in Africa. Somebody forgot the corkscrew and
for several days we had to live on nothing but food and
water."

food or drink with more than one ingredient."

food for the soul."

each month and at the end of the year you'll be surprised
at how little you have."

"Money is like a
sixth sense without which you cannot make a complete
use of the other five."
~ W. Somerset Maugham

something else.

they drink milk from Holy Cows!!!
~ Jack, 6

while they're flying you up to heaven. The main subject
is where you went wrong before you got dead.
~ Daniel, 9
When an angel gets mad,
he takes a deep breath and counts to ten. And when he
lets out his breath, somewhere there's a tornado.
~ Reagan, 10
Angels have a lot to do
and they keep very busy. If you lose a tooth, an
angel comes in through your window and leaves money under
your pillow. Then when it gets cold, angels go north for
the winter.
~ Sara, 6
