Joan Wrynn, Sue Auer and Joanie Sawicki have different backgrounds but their friendship and love of all things creative brought them together. “We had a thought that sharing our friendship and joy for life would bring enjoyment to us and the community who come to visit our unusual and whimsical exhibit, and hopefully give others easy ideas on how to frame and display their own photos.”
From Liz Morrison of La Leche of Greenport:
“This is a great time to simplify and clear the house for summer and helping a great cause at the same time! We are getting ready for our first big fundraiser for the La Leche League of Greenport group. We will be holding a yard sale on June 20th starting at 8:00am at 421 2nd Street, Greenport and we need donations from you to make it a success! So if you have anything at all in good condition (clothes, toys, books, furniture, etc.) that you would like to donate you may drop it off at the address above or email me and I will be happy to come and pick up donations. 100% of all money made will go directly back into the community to help mothers and their babies on the East End. Also, please help me spread the word by forwarding this on. Thank you so much!”
The East End Arts Council, founder of the groundbreaking high school theatre recognition program fondly known as the Teeny Awards© (modeled after the Tony Awards) has announced its 2009 nominees.
All participating East End high school theatre productions have been attended by a select panel of judges, who evaluated students based on specific dramatic skills criteria, which the schools were provided with in early Fall.
A formal awards ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, June 7th at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center. With support from the East End business community, award winners will be recognized for their hard work and dedication to theatre arts. Due to space limitations, attendance to the Teeny Awards ceremony is by invitation only.
And the nominees are… on the Art & Culture page!
