Do you think you deserve a new bike? Write us a letter explaining why, and include an illustration if you like. Have you worked extra hard at school? Helped a friend? Done extra chores at home? Participated in a community event? Volunteered for something? Have a parent or teacher read your letter before sending it.

Update to 2009 Summer Camp Guide

The NorthForkParents 2009 Summer Camp Guide has been updated to include a week-long North Fork program at the beginning of the summer vacation from the Group for the East End. The “Pondhawks” program is for 8- to 10-year olds. For additional information, please see pages 5 and 6 of the Camp Guide.

Call to All LEGO® Enthusiasts

Lego blocks, community mosaic riverhead

Calling all LEGO® builders and enthusiasts: the East End Arts Council announces that it will host a LEGO builders exhibit at the 13th Annual Community Mosaic Street Painting Festival. Artists of all ages, architects or anyone who likes to work creatively with their hands are invited to build a work of art fashioned of LEGO bricks to be displayed at the festival on Sunday, May 24th. There is no fee, but advanced registration is required due to space limitations. Volunteers Sought to Install Rain Garden

The Riverhead Recreation & Parks Department has announced that it is seeking volunteers of all ages to install a rain garden:

“The Riverhead Recreation Department is seeking eco-conscious volunteers of all ages! Help us create something meaningful and lasting for the environment. With the help of the Master Gardeners from Cornell Cooperative Extension and the Riverhead Engineering Department, we will be planting a rain garden at Stotzky Park to help manage stormwater. Our garden will feature a variety of plants, as well as a stone pathway and informative signs to help educate the community about the importance of rain gardens. Come be a part of something special!”
