Teen Fitness Program from 4EC

(From Notice Received by NorthForkParents)

“The 4EC is the East End Educational Enrichment Coalition, consisting of all of your local public libraries, PTAs, the Southold Mothers’ Club, and other parent groups from Mattituck to Shelter Island.

There is rising concern nationwide about student health concerns:  obesity, steroids, eating disorders, and other extreme measures students take to “fit in.” As part of Enrichment programming, educators have worked with the 4EC to address this.  They have put together a free program for local youths, appealing to their desire to look good and feel good–in a positive way.

‘The stars’ all have personal trainers, nutritionists, and coaches that help them address their personal wishes and needs.  Along that line, this program will offer individual conferences, demos to empower local youth.  We have reached out to local PE instructors, the Rec Center, scouts, and our own networks. Our hope is that you will encourage students to attend in any way you see fit.

It is at Southold High School gymnasium, Saturday, February 9,  from 9:30am to 12:30pm, presented by the following:

The Wellness Coach is Dr. Russ L’HommeDieu from New Life in Progress

The Yoga Instructor is Beth Winter from North Fork Fun-N-Fitness

The Nutrition segment will be handled by Miche and Noah Bacher

The Personal Trainer is Jeff Nockelin from School of Hard Knocks

The Hiking Instructor is Tim Hallock of Northeast Mountain Guides and Wilderness School

Door prize:   2 free Splish Splash tickets (donated by Splish Splash)
Free snacks by “The Market,”  and pizza at lunch

Registration preferred but not required. To register call 765-5182.
