Northeast Stage is a nonprofit theater company based in Greenport, NY. The mission of Northeast Stage is to continue the tradition of free summer outdoor performances of Shakespeare in Greenport’s Mitchell Park and to broaden its reach to include classics as well as other creative theater projects in different venues. All presentations aim to involve the community through participation as both presenters and audience and to develop actors, directors, producers, designers, set builders and costumers through workshops and exposure to professionals in visual and performing arts.

In 2009, Northeast Stage expanded their season to include three full productions a year. The company is also expanding their work on Shakespeare to include not only productions but an actor-training program focused on approaches to playing Shakespeare and an educational outreach program designed to support performance-based teaching techniques in the classroom.
